1940's typotgraphy

Movies in the 1940's represented much of the typography in that decade. Because  movie technology didn't display colors yet movie titles had to carry out some of the movie story. the title usually filled the screen and the font that was used always displayed what type of story it is. here is some examples:

Classy beautiful Music

The 1940's managed to mix great music, dance, propaganda and talented group of women while still being classy.

How it all began?

I guess fashion didn't exist before 1947 when Christian Dior lunched his first collection "New Look" which was originally made of two lines "Corolle" and "Huit". The name "New Look" came from the review of Harper's Bazaar's editor in chief, Carmel snow, who said " it's such a new look". In the same year the first "Miss Dior" perfume was lunched.

The time of women and war

I saw this video and i think that women and war were the main changes of this decade. it's the time War because the 1940s had the WWII and the cold war. it always witnessed the death of many important politic leaders and the lunch of the atomic bomb. Also, its the decade of women because married woman started attending universities and working in labor (because most men were involved in the war). Some women even enrolled in being nurses in the war. woman fashion had lots of changes too.

1940s Propaganda

Propaganda

Since World War II dominated many years of the 1940s, propaganda were very common and spreading. it gives a clear idea about the color palate in that decade. i think it would help me to decide in the colors i will use in my poster.

First day in Graphic Design 1 Class

Why the 1940s?

We had to choose the decade we will collect data about in the first graphic design 1 class and because I'm a games freak, as my friends like to call me,  i choose the 1940's because its the same time period of the last game i played and it's called L.A.NOIRE. besides the actual gameplay, the story and the platform, i was very fascinated with the design of the game which i believe it was inspired by the actual time period.
